Designing your own website is not easy but can be really fulfilling, so here are 3 mistakes to avoid when designing your own website.
Keep it simple
It is easy to overcomplicate things, by trying to include too many features and design elements. Yes, it’s important for it to look good, but it’s also important to keep it simple and user-friendly. Visitors should be able to find the information they need quickly and easily without being overwhelmed by an overly complicated design.
Don’t ignore mobile phones
About 50% of web traffic is on mobiles, so ignoring how your website looks on a mobile is a huge mistake. The main downside is that a visitor can’t use or read your website on their phone then that’s a lost lead. BUT ALSO it can hurt your search engine rankings.
Not having clear navigation
Navigation is key to the success of your website. Visitors should be able to find what they’re looking for quickly and easily, or they’ll quickly become frustrated and leave. It’s important to have a clear navigation menu and to organise your content in a logical manner to make it easy for visitors to find what they’re looking for.
I am in awe of anyone attempting it for the first time so I really do wish you all the luck to make it a success!
